Wimbledon 2025 was not only exciting on the field but also received special attention when legend Roger Federer appeared in the Royal area to watch the highlight match between Novak Djokovic and Alex de Minaur on the morning of July 8 (Vietnam time).
In contrast to his dominating form in the previous two rounds, Djokovic had a difficult start. He lost his playing rhythm from the first games, continuously letting De Minaur exploit the space when coming into the net and making unnecessary mistakes. The Australian tennis player took advantage of the opportunity, defended sharply and counterattacked sharply to close the first set with a staggering score of 6-1.
The game only changed direction from the second set, when Djokovic's mettle began to take off. With his flexible playing style and ability to regulate the tempo of the match, the Serbian tennis player forced De Minaur to move continuously, gradually wearing down the opponent's physical strength.
Dangerous drop shots and attacking pairs at the end of the field helped Djokovic regain the initiative. De Minaur tried to catch up but became lose money, making 15 self-defeating mistakes in this set alone.
In the remaining two sets, Djokovic maintained pressure with deep and diverse balls, forcing the young opponent to play in a defensive position. Despite leading 4-1 in the fourth set, De Minaur still could not maintain the advantage, allowing Djokovic to win 6-4 and end the match with a final score of 1-6, 6-4, 6-4, 6-4.
The 101st win at Wimbledon not only helped Djokovic advance to the quarter-finals for the 16th time - an achievement only one time behind Federer - but also the first time he won a match with Federer in attendance.
"Sometimes I wish I had a shot into the net and felt the ball as soft as the gentlemen standing there. This is the first time he came to see me win, I have lost several times before," Djokovic humorously answered in an interview and looked at Federer.
Djokovic's next opponent is young Italian tennis player Flavio Cobolli - an emerging face in high form.
