At the 2026 World Youth Weightlifting Championships, we have 3 weightlifters: K'Duong, A Tieu (male) and Y Lien (female).
In which, weightlifter K'Duong is expected to compete in the men's 60kg weight class, weightlifter A Tieu competes in the men's 65kg weight class and Y Lien participates in the women's 53kg weight class.
The athletes arrived in Egypt on April 30. Although they are on holiday in Vietnam, the coaching staff of the Vietnamese Youth Weightlifting Team still focused professionally to help the athletes compete to achieve the highest results.
The 2026 World Youth Championship officially takes place from May 2nd to 8th. 5. The International Weightlifting Federation - IWF puts into medal competition the weight classes for men including: 60kg, 65kg, 71kg, 79kg, 88kg, 94kg, 110kg and over 110kg. The women's category includes: 48kg, 53kg, 58kg, 63kg, 69kg, 77kg, 86kg and over 86kg.
At the 2025 World Youth Championships, weightlifter Y Lien won 3 bronze medals (push, snatch, total lift) in the women's 49kg weight class. Meanwhile, weightlifter K'Duong once had 1 gold medal (push) and 2 silver medals (push, total lift) in the men's 55kg weight class.
With the competition in Egypt this year, the 2 athletes above are still expected to be able to win medals.
The 2026 World Youth Championships is the first international competition program this year for Vietnamese weightlifting.
