Vietnamese athletics team goes to training after Tet holiday

All members of the Vietnam Athletics Team have finished their Tet holiday to return to the training ground according to professional regulations.

On February 22, members of the Athletics Team returned to gather at training points in Hanoi and Da Nang.

Today, February 23, some players from afar have moved to their training grounds and ensured to be present as required, entering the training program according to regulations.

General Secretary of the Vietnam Athletics Federation - Mr. Nguyen Manh Hung met and encouraged the spirit of the coaching staff and all players on the first day of training after the Lunar New Year.

The requirement set by the coaching staff is that each player of the content teams continues to ensure professionalism, ready to compete and achieve the best results in 2026.

In 2025, the Vietnamese athletics team completed its target at SEA Games 33 with 12 gold medals, 12 silver medals and 10 bronze medals. The athletes who won gold medals at SEA Games 33 will continue national training in 2026.

This year, the Vietnamese athletics team focuses on the goal of winning ASIAD 20 achievements to compete in September in Japan. Therefore, the coaching staff will select the best performing athlete to register officially for the Games above.

Before the Tet holiday, the Vietnamese athletics team competed in the 2026 Asian Indoor Championship in China with a squad of 3 players Nguyen Thi Oanh, Duong Thi Thao, Bui Thi Kim Anh. The players did not win any medals in the above tournament.

During the Tet holiday, the Vietnamese athletics team decided not to participate in the 2026 Asian Athletics Championship held in Japan.

Player Nguyen Thi Oanh represented the players on the first day of training with the promise: "This year will be busy year to prepare professionally, the athletes will be determined to complete the tasks set out by the coaching staff.

According to the plan, in March, many athletes of the Vietnam Athletics Team will participate in the 2026 National Marathon and Long Legs Championship held in Khanh Hoa.
