Vietnam Karate team participates in the World Championship qualifiers

The Vietnamese karate team will compete in the 2025 World Championship qualifiers to find a place in the finals.

2 fighters of the Vietnam Karate Team will compete in the qualifying round of the 2025 World Championship in France from October 17 to October 19.

The coaching staff of the Vietnam Karate Team said that the list includes players Nguyen Thi Dieu Ly and Nguyen Thi Thu. The 2025 World Championship will be held in 2 stages including the qualifying round in France and the final round in Egypt (November). Athletes who are not highly ranked on the world rankings will participate in the qualifying round to find a place in the finals.

Each event in the 2025 World Championship finals has 36 athletes. The Vietnamese karate team aims to strive to achieve the highest results in this qualifying round.

Martial artists Nguyen Thi Dieu Ly and Nguyen Thi Thu are both promising young athletes. In September this year, fighter Nguyen Thi Dieu Ly won a gold medal at the 2025 Asian Youth Karate Championship in the U21 age group event. The athlete won a gold medal at the 2022 World Youth Karate Championship.

Nguyen Thi Dieu Ly is an important member in the kumite (opposite) women's team event of the Vietnam Karate Team. The player is the younger sister of famous fighter Nguyen Thi Ngoan.

Last year, the Vietnam Karate Team won a place in the 2024 World Team Championship. We sent the women's kumite team to compete in the above tournament.
