Karate player Hoang Thi My Tam participates in the K1 world tournament

Boxer Hoang Thi My Tam is one of 7 Vietnamese karate athletes participating in the K1 tournament in the world competition system.

The Vietnamese karate team went to Malaysia on October 2 to participate in the K1 tournament under the system of the World Karate Federation.

The fighters registered by the coaching staff include Dinh Thi Huong, Hoang Thi My Tam, Nguyen Ngoc Tram, Bui Ngoc Nhi, Hoang Thi Thu Uyen, Vuong Thi Thuyet and Nguyen Thi Phuong.

Among them, 3 players Hoang Thi My Tam, Vuong Thi Thuyet, Dinh Thi Huong competed in kumite (opposite) according to their weight class. The remaining players attended kata (performance).

This year's K1 tournament in Malaysia will compete from October 3 to October 5. The tournament has more than 600 fighters from 82 registered teams. According to the international system, the K1 tournament is the most prestigious tournament organized by the World Karate Federation to create opportunities for fighters from around the world to compete. The tournament is a Grand Slam tournament like in other sports.

The coaching staff of the Vietnam Karate team said that some of the main fighters in the list of 7 players preparing to participate in the 2025 World Championship will be at the end of October. Therefore, the K1 tournament competition program in Malaysia is the best professional preparation for athletes.

At the tournament, head coach of the Vietnam Karate Team - Mr. Duong Hoang Long will direct the players to compete. The team set a target of striving for the highest medal.
