The 2026 Asian Taekwondo Championships will host the performance event from May 19 to May 20 and the sparring event from May 21 to May 24 in Mongolia.
For the first time, the Asian Taekwondo Federation regulates the organization of the ASIAD 20 qualifying round. The 2026 Asian Championship is calculated based on the results of the ASIAD 20 qualifying round.

The achievements were obtained from the medal-winning competition results of martial artist Chau Tuyet Van (silver medal for women's individual standard performance), Le Thanh Trung (bronze medal for men's individual standard performance), Nguyen Xuan Thanh (bronze medal for men's individual creative performance).
We will select 2/3 of the athletes who have just won medals to participate in the tournament. ASIAD 20 will organize 2 performance events and 8 sparring events (58kg, 68kg, 80kg, over 80kg (men); 49kg, 57kg, 67kg, over 67kg (women)).
The sparring event at the 2026 Asian Championships takes place in weight classes of 46kg, 49kg, 53kg, 57kg, 62kg, 67kg, 73kg, over 73kg for women and 54kg, 58kg, 63kg, 68kg, 74kg, 80kg, 87kg, over 87kg for men.
The Asian Taekwondo Federation will award 16 official slots (14 official slots, 2 special slots) for each weight class of ASIAD 20 in the 2026 Asian Championship program.
Fighters with rankings from 1st to 7th in each weight class at the 2026 Asian Championships are allowed to participate in ASIAD 20.
In which, some weight classes will combine achievements to award slots, for example, martial artists with results standing from 1 to 7 in the men's 54kg event and positions from 1 to 7 in the 58kg event will also receive slots to ASIAD 20. They will compete in the men's 58kg weight class at ASIAD 20.
