Vietnam's metropolises aim to win 6 championships at the 33rd SEA Games in Thailand this year.

The coaching staff of the Vietnam National Weightlifting Team said that the goal of striving to win 6 gold medals was based on the strength and careful preparation in the past time.

2 years ago, the Vietnamese boxing team won 18 medals (13 gold medals, 4 silver medals, 1 bronze medal) at the 32nd SEA Games in Cambodia. However, the above Congress included 30 events for the event.

The Thai host organizing committee of the 33rd SEA Games will only organize 12 sets of medals. Therefore, each national team can only register 4 female freestyle athletes, 4 male freestyle athletes and 4 male classic events to compete in the 33rd SEA Games.

The list of Vietnam's weightlifting team that will compete in the 33rd SEA Games includes: Pham Nhu Duy, Nguyen Huu Dinh, Can Tat Du, Tran Van Truong Vu, Do Ngoc Linh, Nguyen Thi My Linh, Nguyen Thi My Trang, Nguyen Thi My Hanh, Bui Manh Hung, Nguyen Cong Manh, Nghiem Dinh Hieu, Nguyen Minh Hieu.

The Vietnamese weightlifting team is expected to train in China to prepare for the 33rd SEA Games. However, the coaching staff and experts assessed that practicing domestically still kept the athletes in spirit because the time of competing in the 33rd SEA Games is approaching. Therefore, the players did not go to China. At this time, the whole team is practicing closely at the National High-level Athletes Training Center (Hanoi).

According to the 33rd SEA Games, each team participating in the event is allowed to register a maximum of 12 athletes. The events will compete in 50kg, 53kg, 57kg, 62kg (women's event); 57kg, 65kg, 74kg, 86kg (men's event); 67kg, 77kg, 87kg and 97kg (men's classic event).
