Vietnam women's team finalizes list of participants in 33rd SEA Games

This is the team chosen by coach Mai Duc Chung based on a combination of international competition experience and the ability to rejuvenate the team, aiming to win the Gold medal for the 9th time in history.

In this list finalization, three players including Duong Thi Van, Ngan Thi Thanh Hieu and Vu Thi Hoa will be temporarily absent. Duong Thi Van has not fully recovered from her injury, while Ngan Thi Thanh Hieu and Vu Thi Hoa need more time to accumulate experience to become key factors in the future.

The official force includes many veteran players who have participated in the 2023 World Cup, such as Tran Thi Kim Thanh, Hoang Thi Loan, Le Thi Diem My, Nguyen Thi Bich Thuy, Pham Hai Yen and captain Huynh Nhu. At the same time, coach Mai Duc Chung also gave opportunities to players born from 2000 onwards such as Tran Thi Duyen, Tran Thi Hai Linh, Nguyen Thi Thanh Nha, Ngoc Minh Chuyen and Nguyen Thi Thuy Hang to have more key roles in the team.

According to coach Mai Duc Chung, the current squad has reached "maturity" in terms of expertise thanks to the combination of experience and physical strength, along with the process of competing in international tournaments, helping the team confidently aim for the highest goal. In the last 4 SEA Games, the Vietnamese women's team under his leadership won gold medals.

Tomorrow morning (December 2), the whole team will travel to Thailand, starting with Bangkok before continuing to Chonburi - the venue for the 33rd SEA Games women's football competition. The Vietnamese women's team is in the same group as Myanmar, the Philippines and Malaysia, in which Myanmar and the Philippines are considered direct competitors.
