Wigan Athletic midfielder Ryan Colclough had a memorable evening of his life when he scored a double, helping the home team win and right before the match was taking place to welcome the birth of his son.
Wigan hosted the 18th-placed team in the Championship, Doncaster Rovers. In that match, the home team Wigan crushed their opponents with a score of 3-0. Ryan Colclough scored a double in the 45+2 and 59 minutes before being substituted in the 60th minute for a very special reason.
After scoring the second goal, Ryan Colclough received information from outside the pitch that he needed to leave the pitch immediately because his wife had given birth to a baby boy in the hospital. Immediately, Ryan got into the club's car waiting outside the stadium and arrived at the place where his partner had just given him a young master.
When arriving, still in the same uniform, the midfielder welcomed his newborn child. That image immediately spread very quickly on social media with comments congratulating the midfielder.
"Immediately after scoring the second goal, he immediately left the pitch because his mind was completely focused on something else. We all have such important personal matters and the club respect Ryan's decision. We still have many players waiting in the dressing room so we can immediately fill the position he left behind," assistant coach Leam Richardson shared.
After welcoming the birth of his son, Ryan Colclough shared on Twitter that:
"It was a great result. I scored two goals, the club won and with this child, I have the perfect hat-trick of my life."
Wigan is currently ranked 2nd in the Championship and has a full chance to return to the Premier League. They are only 1 point behind leaders Shrewsbury Town.
