On the afternoon of October 8, at Binh Duong Stadium, head coach of the Nepal team - Mr. Matt Ross attended a press conference before the match against the Vietnam team in the 2027 Asian Cup qualifiers.
Although they have not won any points after 2 defeats against Malaysia and Laos in Group F, the Nepal team still has a chance to win if the World Football Federation (FIFA) keeps the penalty for Malaysia - a team that was discovered to have seven naturalized players using fake documents. However, coach Matt Ross said he did not want to discuss this incident further but only wanted to focus on expertise.
I dont want to say much about Malaysia at the moment, especially after what happened. Nepal's goal is to get points in 2 matches against Vietnam. If you win 3 points, it will be great, and 1 point is also a success. We are disappointed with the loss to Laos, so tomorrow's match will be an opportunity for the whole team to perform better," coach Matt Ross shared.
The Australian coach highly appreciated the Vietnamese team under the leadership of coach Kim Sang-sik, saying that the home team "has a strong attacking style of play and puts a lot of pressure on the opponent's defense".
Mr. Ross added: I highly appreciate the spirit and tactics of the teams led by the Korean coach. Based on that, I can somewhat guess the playing style of the Vietnam team. I also understand a little Korean, so if Mr. Kim has any exchanges on the field, I will try to listen and adjust the tactics accordingly.
On the Ne team's side, coach Matt Ross affirmed that the whole team will focus on tight defense and take advantage of counter-attack opportunities to get points. He also acknowledged that the Vietnamese team calling up many young players is a positive sign for the future, and at the same time an opportunity for them to demonstrate their abilities in this training session.
Also attending the press conference, captain and goalkeeper Kiran Kumar Limbu said: As the head coach shared, our goal is 3 points. But if they get 1 point, it will be a good result. Tomorrow's match with Vietnam is a big match, and I am very excited to play."
The match between Vietnam and Nepal in Group F of the 2027 Asian Cup qualifiers will take place at 7:30 p.m. tomorrow (October 9) at Binh Duong Stadium.
