On December 25, the Information Corps Volleyball Club held a contract signing ceremony and announced the head coach. The person appointed by the military team is Mr. Pham Van Long.
Coach Pham Van Long will replace coach Pham Minh Dung to lead the Information Corps club from the next season. Mr. Pham Minh Dung is still on the coaching staff and is assigned the position of assistant coach.
At the ceremony, coach Pham Van Long shared: "This is a very meaningful return for me. I have been coaching for more than 20 years and have spent a long time with the Signal Corps. This time, I am returning to my old home. I feel very emotional. Hopefully, I, the coaching staff and the players will do our best to meet everyone's expectations, excellently complete the assigned tasks, and aim for high achievements in 2025."
The signing of the head coach contract for Mr. Pham Van Long is one of the significant changes in the women's team of the Information Corps. Because, up to now, the team mainly used coaches from the unit and did not sign contracts with outside coaches.
Coach Pham Van Long once led the women's volleyball team of the Information Corps but ended his career in 2017 when he retired according to regulations. In the second phase and final round of the 2024 National Volleyball Championship, this military leader was the head coach of the Duc Giang Chemicals team and finished as runner-up.
After the tournament, Mr. Long said goodbye to Duc Giang Chemicals before agreeing to return to the army team.
Famous for being strict and decisive with his students in training and competition, coach Pham Van Long is expected to help the team promote the soldier's qualities and good traditions, breathe new life into the Information Corps club, aiming to return to the top position in the national championship in 2025.
