On the evening of September 30, the opening ceremony of the PPA Tour Asia - MB Vietnam Cup 2025 pickleball tournament took place in Da Nang. This is the first time that the coastal city of Da Nang has become the destination of PPA Tour Asia - MB Vietnam Cup 2025, an international pickleball tournament that gathers the top players in Asia and the world.
PPA Tour Asia - MB Vietnam Cup 2025 taking place for the first time in Da Nang is the largest pickleball tournament in Asia in terms of prize scale, number of participating athletes and audience. The event not only helps develop sports tourism for Da Nang in particular and Vietnam in general, but is expected to continue to strongly develop the pickleball movement in the city.
The playground will bring G.O.A.T. Ben Johns - a legendary pickleball player with more than 150 PPA Tour titles in the US - directly to Vietnam. The event will also help connect Vietnamese culture with the most prestigious tournament in the world, promote cooperation in tourism, trade, and sports between domestic sports brands and international units.
According to the organizing committee, this is the largest pickleball tournament in Asia in terms of prize scale (150,000 USD), number of athletes participating and number of spectators. The tournament has nearly 600 professional and amateur tennis players from Vietnam and the world participating, competing in singles and doubles at Tien Son Sports Palace and Tuyen Son Sports Village.
The event takes place from September 30 to October 4, 2025 with the coordination of the Da Nang Pickleball Federation, FPT Play and America & Asia Linkage Company Limited (AAC). This is not only a place for athletes to compete but also gives the audience the opportunity to experience the top-notch sports atmosphere, enjoy dramatic matches and many unique entertainment activities.
The program has main contents including competitions in two categories: Professional (Pro) and Amateur (Amateur); Celebrity Cup with the participation of many famous artists and faces in Vietnamese showbiz; Setting Guinness World Record for the largest audience in a pickleball event on October 4, 2025; Vietnam Sport Festival large-scale sports exhibition; sideline activities: showmatch of international and Vietnamese stars, press exchange, pickleball experience and promotion of the image of Da Nang - the city of international events.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Mr. Duong Quang Thuan - Director of America & Asia Linkage Company Limited, head of the tournament organizing committee - said: "With the support of the city, we believe that the PPA Tour Asia - MB Vietnam Cup 2025 will bring top-notch pickleball matches of the world's and Vietnamese top tennis players, as well as attractive experiences for the community of sports enthusiasts".
After the opening ceremony, the audience enjoyed friendly performances, showmatches and Celebrity Cup events.
Performance by famous international tennis players such as Ben Johns, Tyson Mc Guffin and performances by artists Tuan Hung, Chi Bao, Binh Minh... received enthusiastic cheers.
