According to a quick report from the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Lao Cai province, as of 4:00 p.m. on September 30, the whole Lao Cai province recorded 3 deaths, 1 missing person in Khanh Hoa commune and 5 injuries. The victims died due to landslides and floods swept away in Muong Hum, Viet Hong and Phong Du Ha communes.
At the same time, Lao Cai province recorded more than 4,690 houses with unroofed, damaged, and flooded; of which 4 houses completely collapsed. Local authorities had to evacuate thousands of households in dangerous areas to safe places.


In particular, Yen Bai ward and Nam Cuong ward are identified as the two most deeply flooded localities with many locations up to 3-4m deep, many locations located adjacent to the Red River, the water flowing rapidly makes it very difficult to move people to a safe place.
According to the reporter's records, the main streets of the two wards were still deeply submerged in water, by the evening of September 30, the water level had begun to recede but slowly.


On the streets, functional forces are mobilized to the maximum to support people with food, necessities and evacuate people from isolated and dangerous areas to safe places.
Speaking to Lao Dong Newspaper, Ms. Ta Ngoc Hoa - Chairman of Nam Cuong Ward People's Committee said that up to now, there are about 2,267 households affected in the area, of which over 1,000 households have to be relocated.





Tran Binh Trong, Le Chan, Pham Khac Vinh streets, Provincial Road 163 were partially flooded due to the Red River rising above alert level 3.
As soon as the flooding occurred, the local government divided into 4 working groups to grasp and direct the recovery. Mobilize the relocation of over 1,000 households to relatives' houses, cultural houses, and headquarters of agencies with high locations to ensure people's lives.



At the same time, proactively provide essential immediate necessities to households in isolated areas (580 servings of instant noodles, drinking water, milk, dry food, cakes...) and plan to distribute 520 meals to households in isolated areas.
In Yen Bai ward, from the evening of September 29, heavy rain continued, the water level of Thao river exceeded the warning level of 3 (3.20m), causing flooding of 38 residential groups; there was a risk of landslides in many places.




The total number of affected households is 5034 households, 19 main roads are deeply flooded. Some schools and electricity, telecommunications, and water supply and drainage infrastructure are interrupted.
Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Ha - Vice Chairman of Yen Bai Ward People's Committee said that the locality has mobilized 20 motorboats, canoes and canoes to support the evacuation of more than 600 people from deeply flooded areas to safe places. In addition, food and necessities are being provided to isolated families.
