After Jannik Sinner's convincing victory over Carlos Alcaraz at the 2025 Six Kings Slam, Italian tennis legend Adriano Panatta believes that the result of a performance should not be overrated.
Speaking on the TV show, former champion Roland Garros 1976 commented: "Game like this has very limited value, both technically and emotionally. I have never seen Sinner laugh so much in a game, that says it all.
Previously, at the tournament held in Saudi Arabia, world No. 1 tennis player Jannik Sinner defeated Alcaraz with a score of 6-2, 6-4, thereby receiving a prize of 6 million USD. This is the first time the two have met since the 2025 US Open final, where Alcaraz won an overwhelming victory.
Panatta was cautious but still praised his junior: Sinner played very well, especially in the dribbling, he obviously trained very seriously. When he's in top form, Sinner is a real danger."
However, the Italian legend emphasized that only official tournaments truly reflect the player's ability: "I want to see them play again at the Paris Masters or ATP Finals. That is the place to affirm the true position".
The victory at the Six Kings Slam has brought a positive signal for Sinner in his journey to improve his head-to-head record against Alcaraz - who is leading him 10-5. However, as Panatta said, winning an exhibition "is not enough to rewrite the balance between the two young stars of world tennis".
