The World Pickleball Championship (WPC) is a series of international pickleball tournaments, especially in the Asia-Pacific region. The WPC Asia Pickleball Grand Slam 2025 taking place in Malaysia from July 16 to 20 brings together more than 1,500 athletes from more than 20 countries and territories, with a total prize value of up to nearly 22,000 USD (more than 575 million VND). The tournament is considered an outstanding international playground, promoting the pickleball movement to develop more strongly in Asia.
Notably, in the women's doubles event 4.5+ ended on the evening of July 20, young Vietnamese tennis player Jolie Lam (real name Lien Ngo Chung Thien Lam) excellently won the championship.
Playing with teammate Christine Vong (Malaysia), the tennis player born in 2008 showed a solid playing style, rich in technique and especially a strong spirit. Opening unfavorably with a 12-15 defeat in the first match against Wong Joan and Joseline Tze Qin, Jolie Lam and her teammates quickly regained their spirit, winning the next two matches with the scores of 15-10 against Ju Bright/Gloria Tan and 15-4 against Eugenia David/Myra Arisa, thereby moving into the quarter-finals.

In the quarter-finals, Jolie Lam's pair won an overwhelming victory with a score of 15-6 against patri patri patri patri patri Pantangco and patri patri patri Raymundo (Philippines). In the semi-finals, she and her teammates went through a tense match, which could only be decided by a close score of 21-20 against Kwan Wun Man of Hong Kong (China) and Yung-Hsin Tseng of Taiwan (China).
In the decisive match, Jolie Lam and Christine Vong showed their steady fighting spirit, defeating their opponents with a score of 21-18 against two veteran doubles players from the host country, Sieu Ee Toi and Delia Arnold, officially bringing home the prestigious trophy for Vietnam.
Notably, this is Jolie Lam's second consecutive prestigious championship in just 1 week. Previously, at the 2025 Asian Pickleball Junior Open ended on July 15 in Quang Nam, the tennis player born in 2008 was crowned in the U18 women's doubles event.
Lien Ngo Chung Thien Lam (nickname Jolie Lam) is considered the youngest talent in the current Vietnamese women's pickleball village. The tennis player born in 2008 stands out with a height of 1.7m and her abundant physical strength thanks to her tennis playing days.
Having become familiar with tennis since the age of 12, Jolie Lam has made remarkable progress with 3 titles in national youth tournaments in 2024. Although she has only been in pickleball for more than 5 months, Jolie Lam has had an impressive collection of titles, a familiar face on the podium to receive awards at major pickleball tournaments in Vietnam.
