This year, the 2026 Southeast Asian Open Surface Swimming Championships takes place in the Philippines, from August 21 to August 23.
Last year, Nguyen Huy Hoang competed in the 2025 Southeast Asian Open Water Swimming Championships and won a gold medal in the men's 10km and a gold medal in the mixed men's and women's 4x1500m relay.
Despite Huy Hoang's absence, the Vietnamese swimming team still has a force of good faces participating in the competition in the Philippines.
Our squad has 9 players including: Kha Nhi, Thai Bao, Duc Trong, Gia Phuc, Thuy An, Tu Uyen, Bao Ngoc, Ngoc Vinh, Van Dung.
The tournament attracted more than 140 athletes from 5 participating teams including Vietnam, Thailand, Indonesia, Singapore and the Philippines.
Athletes will compete in 3km, 5km, 10km distances for men and women by age group. The tournament also organizes mixed relay 4x1500m for men and women.
According to the assessment of the coaching staff, players Do Ngoc Vinh, Cao Van Dung, Nguyen Kha Nhi are people with a lot of competition experience, so they are capable of competing for medals at this year's tournament.
9 players and the coaching staff of the Vietnamese swimming team have been present in the Philippines since August 19 to get acquainted with the competition area to understand the climate.
