Luis Diaz criticized for partying at Diogo Jota's funeral

Luis Diaz was criticized for appearing at a party in Colombia during Diogo Jota's funeral.

Jota's funeral took place in Gondomar ( portugal) on July 5. Some Liverpool players such as Van Dijk, Mac Allister, Robertson... were present to say goodbye to their late teammate. However, most of the Liverpool squad cannot participate for personal reasons or personal schedules.

However, Luis Diaz was the only one to face a strong backlash. The image of him attending an event in his native Colombia, where he appeared happily with many celebrities, made many people think that this attitude was inappropriate in the context that the whole team was pitying Jota.

Some opinions say that being absent for commercial reasons is understandable, but the way they behave in front of the media at a sensitive time has led to criticism. Many international newspapers called Diaz's actions "contestative" and "deplorable".

Diaz had previously sent his deepest condolences to Jota's family on social media, expressing his grief and regret. However, the images that were later spread have caused mixed reactions from the public.

It is also undeniable that some other Liverpool players such as Mohamed Salah and Alisson Becker, although absent from the funeral, are still highly appreciated by fans for their rightful express of condolences in their own circumstances.

Luis Diaz has not yet made an official statement about the incident.
