International quality tournament
First held last year as the first international Taekwondo tournament in Vietnam sponsored by CJ, this year the tournament enters its second season. CJ Vietnam Open is an international tournament reaching G1 level recognized by the World Taekwondo Federation (WT). Athletes who have registered with the National Taekwondo Federations will compete in 8 men's and 8 women's weight classes.
Last year, the tournament attracted 112 athletes from 13 countries. This year, the tournament gathers 167 athletes from 15 countries, including Vietnam, Korea, India, Indonesia, Japan...
The tournament is organized in accordance with the regulations of the World Taekwondo Federation (WT), applying an electronic scoring system and an international referee team, helping athletes compete with top opponents in an environment equivalent to official international tournaments.
Especially, from July this year is also the time to start accumulating new ranking points for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic qualifiers (LA 2028), so the tournament is expected to become the starting point of the race to win tickets to participate in the Olympics.

Nguyen Thi Loan, an athlete who just won a silver medal at the US Open Taekwondo Championship held in June this year, shared: "CJ Vietnam Open is a valuable opportunity for Vietnamese athletes to compete in an international standard environment right in their home country. This will help many athletes have more motivation to nurture their dreams and try their hand at the world arena.
Before the ASIAD, I will strive to objectively assess my current form, overcome the limitations and prepare best to achieve high results at the Aichi - Nagoya Asian Games in September".
