The taekwondo performance boxing athlete selection program to participate in ASIAD 20 was held in Tay Ninh recently.
The Vietnam Taekwondo Federation and the coaching staff of the Vietnam Taekwondo Team perform the selection test under the supervision of a prestigious professional judging panel.
From the competition results at the 2026 Asian Championships, the Asian Taekwondo Association officially announced 8 ASIAD 20 slots for the Vietnamese Taekwondo Team (including 2 performance slots, 6 sparring slots).
Therefore, professional inspection to publicly and transparently award the best boxer to compete in ASIAD 20 in the performance boxing event has been organized.
The players participating in the selection test include: Kim Ha, Tuyet San, Y Binh, Anh Thu (female) and Xuan Thanh, Bao Quang, Thanh An, Van Minh (male).
In which, the professional judging panel evaluating the test results includes 9 members and has 2 referees operating, Mr. Tran Nguyen Truong Tri and Ms. Nguyen Thi Mong Trinh.
After 3 rounds of selection testing, based on the results of individual poomsae performances of athletes, 2 athletes Chau Ngoc Tuyet Sang (female) and Nguyen Xuan Thanh (male) were awarded official slots to participate in ASIAD 20.
In addition to the performance poomsae event, the Vietnamese taekwondo team also has a spot to participate in ASIAD 20 sparring in the 58kg men's, 69kg men's, over 80kg men's, 49kg women's, 67kg women's, over 67kg women's events.
