The Asian Olympic Council and the Organizing Committee of the 2026 Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games (AIMAG 2026) announced 18 official sports (including MMA).
The sports that will be present at the competition in Riyadh city (Saudi Arabia) are: 3x3 basketball, billiards & snooker, boxing, chess, futsal, handball, jujitsu, judo, kabaddi, karate, mixed martial arts MMA, Thai muay, padel, squash, taekwondo, teqball, weightlifting and wrestling.
The Games will be held in December. In this edition, the 2026 Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games will have 122 official competition events.
If nothing changes, the Heads of Delegation Conference for representatives of countries attending the Congress will be held in Saudi Arabia on June 23 and 24.
In this year's organization, the general martial arts event is officially held for the first time. According to preliminary announcements, this sport will feature events for modern MMA and traditional MMA.
This year, the 4th Asian MMA Championship will take place at the end of May in Uzbekistan and this is one of the professional tests before the 2026 Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games kicks off.
In September this year, MMA general martial arts was also brought by OCA and officially competed at ASIAD 20 in Japan. Currently, the Asian General Martial Arts Association has been established to implement programs to organize tournaments and professional competitions of MMA.
