110 gold medals is a big pressure
Head of the Vietnamese sports delegation at the 33rd SEA Games, Mr. Nguyen Hong Minh affirmed in the Report on professional preparation work at the Departure Ceremony that: Based on the analysis of forces and performance correlation in the region, the Vietnamese sports delegation aims to strive to win from 90 to 110 Gold Medals, continuing to maintain its position in the leading group of Southeast Asia.
All cadres, experts, coaches and athletes of the Vietnam Sports Delegation are deeply aware that this is an important task, a great responsibility and honor to compete for the glory of the Fatherland, for the pride of the Vietnamese people.
Vietnam Sports has developed a plan to participate in the 33rd SEA Games for training, professional preparation and a thorough review of each national team in the past 11 months. The initial target was to strive to win 80 to 100 Gold Medals. After that, when reviewing the specific key forces participating in the 33rd SEA Games, the management level set a target of 100 Gold Medals.
At this time, the threshold of 110 Gold Medals is considered to have no small pressure. However, all Vietnamese coaches and athletes determined that each competition will surpass themselves to complete the assigned tasks.
In the last 3 Sports Festivals before the 33rd SEA Games, the Vietnam Sports Delegation was in the top 2 countries in the list. At the 30th SEA Games in 2019 in the Philippines, we have 98 Gold Medals. At the 31st SEA Games in 2022 in Vietnam, we won 205 Gold Medals, while at the 32nd SEA Games in 2023 in Cambodia, the Vietnam Sports Delegation won 136 Gold Medals.

2 years ago, the Vietnam Sports Delegation attended the 32nd SEA Games with the mindset of trying to protect their position in the top group. At the end of the competition, Vietnamese coaches and athletes won 355 medals (136 Gold Medals, 105 Silver Medals, 114 Bronze Medals) to rank No. 1. At that time, the 32nd SEA Games will organize 584 events.
Aiming for the 33rd SEA Games, the Vietnamese sports delegation will participate in 443 events out of a total of 579 in Thailand. The main teams all received the target of winning the SEA Games 33 Gold Medal. However, the performance indicators must have a basis and be protected by expertise.
This is reflected in the officially registered athlete force. The regulation of the Vietnam Sports Delegation strictly implements that only athletes capable of winning medals will be awarded an official ticket to Thailand to compete.
