Thanh Thuy is still difficult to replace.
Tran Thi Thanh Thuy ended her contract with Kuzeyboru (Türkiye) early. Currently, the Vietnamese women's volleyball player is playing for Gresik Petrokimia Pupuk in the Indonesian women's volleyball tournament.
In 2024, the Vietnam Women's Volleyball Team competed in the SEA V.League 2024, AVC Challenge Cup 2024, and FIVB Challenge Cup 2024. In the above tournaments, Tran Thi Thanh Thuy was not the most effective player because she was injured. However, the coaching staff of the Vietnam Women's Volleyball Team still registered her in the competition list, participating in each of the above tournaments.
Coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet once explained that Tran Thi Thanh Thuy is the captain of the Vietnam Women's Volleyball Team, and at the same time, the hitter plays a very important role as a spiritual support for the team. Therefore, even though Tran Thi Thanh Thuy only played a few matches and did not play her role well, her presence as a key player is still highly trusted by her teammates.
Before Tran Thi Thanh Thuy went to Türkiye to compete (September 2024), the striker's knee injury was treated to achieve the highest recovery. In Türkiye, Thanh Thuy was able to play. Now, Thanh Thuy is competing in the Indonesian women's volleyball tournament and the health of this main attacker is confirmed to be 100% recovered. Thanh Thuy has played every match for the Gresik Petrokimia Pupuk team and scoring is the clearest proof that Vietnam's number one main attacker is returning effectively.
The Vietnamese women's volleyball team has not gathered in 2025. Coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet will review the performance of all players competing in the first phase of the 2025 National Volleyball Championship and then decide who to focus on for the team.
Coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet once said that any player who performs well will have a place on the national team and he was reassured to see Tran Thi Thanh Thuy playing regularly in Indonesia and not as a reserve.
Step by step more efficient
When Tran Thi Thanh Thuy was injured in 2024, the Vietnam Women's Volleyball Team struggled to find someone to take on the main striker position in the squad in many international tournaments. We have Vi Thi Nhu Quynh and Tran Tu Linh who play the above position well. At some points, coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet put Nguyen Thi Bich Tuyen in the main striker position. However, fans still see Tran Thi Thanh Thuy playing effectively in the above position.
At SEA Games 31, Tran Thi Thanh Thuy and the Vietnamese women's volleyball team reached the final but only won a Silver Medal at home. At SEA Games 32 in Cambodia, we continued to reach the final and received a Silver Medal in women's volleyball.
“Thanh Thuy is now stronger and plays more cunningly than before. We understand that through tournaments and especially playing in a top environment, players can perfect their skills,” Mr. Kiet once analyzed. During her career, Tran Thi Thanh Thuy has been introduced to many volleyball environments in Taiwan (China), Thailand, Japan, Turkey and Indonesia, but every time she was asked, she always humbly said: “I really want to learn and accumulate more for myself. I always hope to compete in many good volleyball environments to develop my skills.”
This is also one of the reasons why Tran Thi Thanh Thuy has been given the best possible conditions to compete abroad by her management unit, VTV Binh Dien Long An, for many years. In 2025, the target of Vietnamese women's volleyball is to win the Gold Medal at the 33rd SEA Games in Thailand.
