Nguyen Thi Oanh has held the record for winning gold medals in 1,500m for women at consecutive SEA Games 29, 30, 31, and 32.
This year, the new point for athletics is to have 1 day off in the 33rd SEA Games (December 14). The men's and women's 20km walking events and the men's and women's marathons will be held on December 13.
On the final day of the athletics competition, December 16, the final round of the women's high jump, men's sao jump, men's disc throw, women's 3,000m hurdles, women's long jump, men's 10,000m, men's 4x400m, women's 4x400m, men's 4x100m, mixed women's 4x100m will be held. However, this is only a preliminary schedule. The official schedule will be determined at the technical meeting before the competition on December 10.
The venue for the 33rd SEA Games athletics competition is at Supachalasai National Stadium. This is a stadium that meets international athletics standards. Two years ago, the stadium hosted the 2023 Asian Championship. After that, the stadium continued to host the first Asian Support Championship in 2024.
