The 105th Asian Athletics Council Conference in 2025 ended in Hanoi, marking an important milestone for the development of regional athletics and affirming Vietnam's increasingly prominent role in the continental sports system.
During the discussion sessions, President of Asian Athletics - Dalan Jumaan Al-Hamad emphasized that this is the time for Asian Athletics to move towards the future, focusing on effectively implementing the "athletics Development Strategy 2023-2030".

This strategy aims to enhance the position of Asian athletics on the world sports map, expand movements among young people, increase the application of technology in training and management, and strengthen cooperative relations with the World Athletics Council to ensure sustainable development.
Mr. Dalan Jumaan Al-Hamad also said that with 60% of young athletes globally from Asia, this region is becoming the main driving force for the future of platform sports.
Representing the host country, Mr. Nguyen Manh Hung - General Secretary of the Vietnam Athletics Federation presented many strategic proposals that received high consensus from the Council.
In particular, Vietnam proposed to support the implementation of children's athletics programs in schools nationwide to build a solid foundation for the movement. In addition, Vietnam aims to standardize the grassroots tournament system, aiming for more methodical and professional management.

In the aspect of high-performance sports, Vietnam hopes to introduce international standard training locations and receive support from leading experts to aim for medals at the ASIAD, Asian tournaments and further, Olympic participation.
Vietnam also proposed a roadmap to host major events such as organizing an ASEAN regional tournament before 2027 and aiming to host a continental tournament before 2030. These orientations are considered suitable for the capacity, while demonstrating the aspiration to reach the international level of Vietnam's athletics.
In his concluding remarks, the President of the Asian Athletics Confederation expressed his satisfaction with the organization of the host country, notably the professional, effective and thoughtful preparation.
He assessed Vietnam as an ideal destination for regional events and was impressed by the serious training spirit of the national athletics team during the visit to the Nhon National Sports Training Center.

The 105th meeting ended with high consensus from Council members, creating an important foundation for the region to realize development goals by 2030.
With the trust of the Asian Athletics Council and determination from within, Vietnam Athletics is facing a great opportunity to accelerate, aiming for new milestones at the regional and world levels.
