Nguyen Thuy Hien still maintained stable form to win the first and only gold medal for the Army swimming team on the opening day of March 31st in Hue city.
The tournament took place with the participation of a large number of leading athletes nationwide. On the first day, 8 swimming events were played.
Nguyen Thuy Hien won the gold medal in the women's 50m breaststroke event when she finished with a result of 32 seconds 26. Her achievement surpassed Vo Thi My Tien (Tay Ninh, 32 seconds 42) and Vu Thi Phuong Anh (HCMC, 32 seconds 79).
On the first day, swimmers Nguyen Quang Thuan or Tran Hung Nguyen of the Army team did not have individual gold medal results.
Hung Nguyen lost to Tran Van Nguyen Quoc (Da Nang) in the men's 200m freestyle event, so he received a silver medal with a result of 1 minute 48 seconds 10. Nguyen Quoc finished first with a result of 1 minute 47 seconds 56.
In the 100m backstroke event, Hung Nguyen only finished 3rd. First was Trinh Truong Vinh (HCMC, 52 seconds 90). The Army relay team only won a silver medal in the women's 4x100m freestyle and violated regulations in the men's and women's 4x100m medley event (not counted as achievement).
On the first day of the tournament, swimmer Nguyen Huy Hoang (Quang Tri) only participated in the 200m freestyle event and won a bronze medal with a time of 1 minute and 48 seconds.
On the first day, the Ho Chi Minh City swimming team won 4 gold medals and broke 3 national records in the women's 100m backstroke (Nguyen Diep Phuong Tram) and women's 4x100m freestyle relay, mixed 4x100m relay.
Temporarily on the overall standings, the Ho Chi Minh City team ranks first with 4 gold medals, 4 silver medals and 1 bronze medal. The tournament is still competing until April 5.
