Nguyen Xuan Son and Van Toan join Vietnam national team

Coach Kim Sang-sik has decided to call up 3 players from Nam Dinh Steel Club to join the Vietnam national team.

According to Lao Dong, 3 players of the Nam Dinh Steel Club were called up to the Vietnam national team to participate in the AFF Cup (new name ASEAN Cup) 2024, namely striker Nguyen Xuan Son, Nguyen Van Toan and defender Nguyen Van Vi. These are players who are in high form in the V.League 2024-2025.

These three players are with the Nam Dinh Steel Club preparing for the away match against Bangkok United in the final round of the AFC Champions League Two group stage taking place tomorrow (December 4).

After returning from Thailand, Xuan Son, Van Toan, and Van Vi will officially join the Vietnamese team to leave for Laos on December 6.

Van Vi is Nam Dinh's second highest assist provider with 2 assists. In the context of the Vietnamese team lacking quality left-backs, Van Vi's stable performance can somewhat reassure coach Kim Sang-sik.

Compared to players playing on the left wing such as Van Khang, Tien Anh or Xuan Manh, Van Vi is superior in his ability to play in this position. He also possesses the necessary qualities such as physical strength, endurance, defensive ability and attack support.

Nguyen Xuan Son is a valuable addition to the Vietnamese national team's attack. Although he was out of the field for a while due to injury, he has returned strong and continuously scored for Nam Dinh Steel Blue.

Van Toan is also an experienced player of the Vietnam national team. Although he has not played regularly this season due to injury, Van Toan still holds an important position in the team. Over the past 8 years, he has had 47 appearances and scored 6 goals for the national team.
