Lai Gia Thanh has achieved 3 bronze medals in the men's 60kg weight class at the 2026 Asian Weightlifting Championships starting competition in India on May 11.
In the evening of competition (local time), the 60kg men's weight class was the earliest event to take place. Lai Gia Thanh achieved a snatch result of 121kg, and a clean and jerk result of 146kg.
As a result, the weightlifter of the Vietnamese weightlifting team has a total lift of 267kg. With the above 3 parameters, Lai Gia Thanh won 3 bronze medals in the competition.
The total lift champion, and also winning 3 gold medals in this year's competition, is weightlifter Cholpang Un (DPRK). This athlete successively lifted the snatch weight of 130kg and the clean and jerk weight of 174kg to have a total lift of 304kg.
Standing in second place, receiving 3 silver medals is weightlifter Aniqkasdan Mohama of the Malaysian team with results of 122kg snatch, 155kg clean and total 277kg. The men's 60kg category at this year's tournament has 10 athletes registered to participate.
The 2026 Asian Weightlifting Championships starts from May 11 and lasts until May 17. This year, the Vietnam Weightlifting Team only registered 5 athletes.
The organizers said that the tournament attracted over 170 top athletes from Asia to compete in weight classes for men and women. Among these, many names with world medals and Olympic medals are present in India this year.
