On February 23, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Lam Dong province coordinated with the People's Committee of Ham Thuan Nam commune to organize the 2026 "Lam Dong Province Ta Cu Mountain Relay Open" Tournament.
The tournament attracted more than 300 male and female athletes from 37 delegations in the province and other localities to participate.
Athletes compete in 3 systems: Expanded, mass and provincial sports festivals.
The competition content includes 2 distances: Men's 6. 300m (running 4,000m, mountain climbing 2. 300m) and women's 5. 300m (running 3,000m, mountain climbing 2. 300m).
Mr. Huynh Ngoc Tam - Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Lam Dong province - said that the tournament not only contributes to promoting the mass sports training movement but is also an opportunity to select athletes, preparing for national professional tournaments in the coming time.
Ta Cu peak is 694m high, with slopes up to 65 degrees. After the starting signal, the athletes accelerate on the road before entering the climbing part through the primeval forest.
The organizers arranged water supply points and medical staff along the race track, and security forces were on duty to ensure security and order along the way. Many spectators cheered excitedly on both sides of the track.
At the end of the tournament, in the men's event, athlete Pham Ngoc Phan (Lam Dong Provincial Sports Training Center) won the title of Mountain King.
In the women's event, athlete Nguyen Thi Thanh Tuyen (Lam Dong Provincial Sports Training Center) won the title of Mountain Queen. Lam Dong Provincial Sports Training Center ranked first overall.
Ta Cu mountain climbing tournament is an opportunity for delegations to exchange, learn, improve training and competition skills, and create a joyful atmosphere in the early days of Binh Ngo spring 2026.
On the top of the mountain, there is also a 49m long statue of Buddha Shakyamuni entering Nirvana, which was once recognized as an Asian record in 2013.
Through the tournament, the image of Ta Cu scenic spot continues to be promoted, attracting tourists to visit and experience.
