Nguyen Thi Thu Huyen and her teammates have been in Japan since June 29 to prepare professionally to compete in the 2026 Asian Youth Championship.
This year, the Vietnamese Youth Badminton Team registered 5 players to participate in the tournament including Nguyen Thi Thu Huyen, Pham Thi Truc An (female) and Nguyen Tat Duy Loi, Nguyen Dinh Dat, Lo Trieu Huy. The tournament will be held from July 1 to July 5.
The 2026 Asian Youth Championship organizes team and individual events.
With the current force, the Vietnamese Youth Badminton Team only registers for individual events. All events are for athletes in the U19 age group.
According to the draw of the Organizing Committee, 2 players Nguyen Thi Thu Huyen and Pham Thi Truc An are not seeded in the women's singles event.
Thu Huyen will meet Cheok Ian Ung (Macau, China) in the first match of the women's singles round 1, while Truc An will compete against Song Yeon Lee (Korea).
In addition to women's singles, at the 2026 Asian Youth Championships, Thu Huyen is also registered to compete in women's doubles (with Truc An) and mixed doubles (with Duy Loi).
In the men's singles event, all 3 Vietnamese players registered to participate.
The draw has brought Nguyen Tat Duy Loi to meet player Arnur Tapishev (Kazakhstan) in the first match, while Lo Trieu Huy will meet Wei Jie Tiew (Malaysia) and Nguyen Dinh Dat will play against opponent Osuke Miyazaki (Japan).
