On the evening of August 25, Vietnam time, Nguyen Thuy Linh won a memorable victory over tennis player Ratchanok Intanon in the women's singles round of the 2025 World Badminton Championship.
Ratchanok Intanon won the world women's singles championship in 2013. She is currently the 10th ranked tennis player in the world and the 10th seed in women's singles.
Many predictions say that Thuy Linh will have difficulty against Ratchanok Intanon because of her uneven level.
However, the Vietnamese badminton player surprised everyone. She played strongly in the two matches that won against Ratchanok Intanon with a score of 2-0 (21-17, 21-18). The match lasted 45 minutes.
This victory helped Nguyen Thuy Linh enter the women's singles round to meet Kirsty Gilmour.
Before going to France, Thuy Linh shared that her goal was to strive to play in each match to get the best results.
