Nguyen Thuy Linh meets former badminton world champion

Nguyen Thuy Linh will compete with Ratchanok Intanon (Thailand) in the first round of the women's singles event of the 2025 World Badminton Championship.

Nguyen Thuy Linh's opponent in the women's singles round of the 2025 Badminton World Championship was identified as Ratchanok Intanon after the World Badminton Federation (BWF) drew on August 13.

Nguyen Thuy Linh's Thai opponent won the women's singles championship at the 2013 Badminton World Championship. Currently, Ratchanok Intanon is ranked 10th in the world and Thuy Linh is ranked 22nd.

Nguyen Thuy Linh has competed in women's singles at the Badminton World Championship for the past three years, but she soon stopped at the first rounds of the women's singles event.

The Vietnamese badminton team has five other players competing in this year's world tournament, including Vu Thi Trang, Le Duc Phat, Nguyen Hai Dang, Tran Dinh Manh, Nguyen Dinh Hoang. Tennis player Vu Thi Trang was drawn against Yevheniia Kantemyr (Ukraine), Le Duc Phat against Julien Carraggi ( Belgian) and Nguyen Hai Dang against Alwi Farhan (Indonesia, ranked 23rd in the world).

Two tennis players Tran Dinh Hoang and Nguyen Dinh Manh competed in the men's doubles event. They will play the first round against Matheus Voigt and Izak Batalha (Brazil). The badminton World Championship will be held from August 25 to August 31 in France.

Vietnamese badminton players are competing in the 2025 National Championship in Dong Nai and will then go to France to compete in the world tournament.
