The All-Star Marathon (Marathon All - Star) took place on February 8th on the road in Hanoi, attracting many domestic and international professional marathon athletes to participate.
Cold weather and heavy rain have made it difficult for participating athletes to compete.
The focus of attention was Pham Thi Hong Le's 42km women's marathon victory in the competition. This former national athlete did not face any direct competition, so she easily finished first with a time of 2 hours 38 minutes 07 seconds.
The above result is better than the national marathon 42km women's record that Nguyen Thi Oanh set in December 2024, which was 2 hours 39 minutes 49 seconds.
However, through sharing, the Vietnam Athletics Federation said that to be recognized as a national record, the tournament must ensure strict professional regulations from standard running distances, with the supervision of specialized departments...
At this tournament, there is no professional supervision from the specialized department of the Vietnam Athletics Federation. Thus, Pham Thi Hong Le's achievement is not qualified to be recognized as a new national record.
In the men's 42km marathon event, Hoang Nguyen Thanh finished first with a result of 2 hours 19 minutes 44 seconds. Nguyen Thanh achieved better results than at the time of competition at SEA Games 33. At that time in Thailand, the athlete only finished 4th in the men's marathon with a time of 2 hours 38 minutes 15 seconds.
At this year's All-Star Marathon, the first runner-up in the men's 21km distance was Kenedy Njogu (Kenya) with a time of 1 hour 6 minutes 24 seconds, and the first runner-up in the women's 21km was Doan Thu Hang with a time of 1 hour 22 minutes 12 seconds.
