Ho Chi Minh City Women's Football Club is actively preparing for the group stage of the AFC Champions League for women 2025-2026, taking place from November 13 at Thong Nhat Stadium. The team's goal is to repeat the achievement of the semi-finals like last season.
To achieve this goal, the Ho Chi Minh City women's team has invested heavily in personnel. The team registered all 6 foreign players according to regulations, including center back Aubrey Goodwill, Gorman Chloe, midfielder Sakura Yoshida and Tatiana Mason (USA), defender Ouni Samia (Tunisia) and striker Maria Khan (USA). Last season, the Vietnamese representative only used 4 foreign players in the semi-finals against Wuhan Jiangda (China).
In addition, Ho Chi Minh City Women's Club also welcomed the return of goalkeeper Tran Thi Kim Thanh - who was with the Vietnam women's team at the 2023 World Cup.
After playing for Thai Nguyen T&T club, Kim Thanh asked to terminate the contract early to return to play for his former team. The presence of the number 1 goalkeeper of the Vietnam women's team is expected to significantly strengthen the defensive strength of the team named after Uncle Ho.
According to the plan, Ho Chi Minh City women's club is in Group A, respectively meeting Stallion Laguna (Philippines) on November 13, Lion City Sailors (Singapore) on November 16 and Melbourne City (Australia) on November 19. The two teams leading each group and the two teams with the best results in the third place will qualify for the quarter-finals.
After completing the group stage, Kim Thanh, coach Doan Thi Kim Chi and a group of players such as Chuong Thi Kieu, Huynh Nhu, Tran Thi Thu Thao will return to the Vietnam women's team, preparing for the training trip in Japan from November 20 to complete the final preparation stage before the 33rd SEA Games.
