Tran Thi Thanh Thuy will leave the Turkish volleyball club Kuzeyboru to return to Vietnam after only a few months, as another affirmation of the "immense" world of sports compared to Vietnamese athletes. Before Thanh Thuy, some male soccer players such as Cong Phuong (to Belgium), Van Hau (to the Netherlands), Quang Hai (to France) were all unsuccessful. Furthermore, Cong Vinh went to Portugal and also only left a little mark, but cannot be confirmed as successful.
Also in Portugal, female soccer player Huynh Nhu is a rare case of Vietnamese sports being considered successful, but clearly, that is not enough to confirm that Vietnamese athletes are ready for a long-term life in Europe, even in the top sports countries in Asia.
Maybe, Vietnamese sports participate in a certain sporting event at the European level, the world still finds success, but the emphasis here is on life, adaptation and performance level over a long period of time (at least in a contract of several months).
Someone might say that Thanh Thuy had few opportunities and did not perform well because of her injury, but that also shows another problem of Vietnamese sports and the athletes themselves. The intensity of competition is too high because of the pressure to achieve results, and then, injuries greatly affect the career.
Until now, Van Hau still doesn't know when he can return due to injury after a period of time returning from the Netherlands... Sports medicine, along with sports nutrition, is another story that Vietnamese sports do not pay due attention to.
Quang Hai is no longer the real Quang Hai after returning from France, Cong Phuong has struggled to find himself in recent years. Could it be that the pressure from the high level of European football has affected his psychology? It could be partly so and if so, it would be quite worrying for Thanh Thuy if she returns to Vietnam…
Can I find another opportunity abroad, more suitable? Not as good as “the sea” but enough to have a chance to develop…
