Thanh Vũ |

Tran Thanh Luc has won the right to enter the semi-finals of the 2024 World Championship of 3-cushion billiards.

Facing the world's 17th-ranked French player Jeremy Bury in the 1/8 round match of the 2024 World Championship of 3-cushion carom billiards taking place in Binh Thuan on the afternoon of September 28, Tran Quyet Chien is expected to win to "avenge" Bao Phuong Vinh.

However, this was a match where Bury continuously led against Tran Quyet Chien. At the end of the first half, the score was 30-23 in favor of the French player.

In the second half, Tran Quyet Chien still could not improve the situation. The current world runner-up's best shot in the second half was a 6-point shot.

In the remaining time, the French player continuously scored points and won 50-35 after 26 turns.

However, when they reached the quarter-finals in the match that took place later, and had to face another Vietnamese opponent, Tran Thanh Luc, Bury played poorly.

Thanh Luc was the better player in the game. However, Jeremy Bury also showed his mettle and continuously shortened the score. However, in the decisive moment, Thanh Luc still had important points to win the final match 50-47.

World No. 1 Dick Jaspers will be a big challenge for Tran Thanh Luc in the semi-finals of the 2024 World Championship. The remaining semi-final match will be between Eddy Merckx (Belgium) and Cho Myung-woo (Korea). The round for the four strongest players will compete on September 29.
