Coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet said he is considering using striker Tran Thi Thanh Thuy in the opposite position at the 2025 World Championship.
The Vietnam women's volleyball team had its first training session in Phuket (Thailand) on August 21. The coaching staff is looking for additional personnel options for the opposite position because player Nguyen Thi Bich Tuyen did not go to Thailand to compete. Currently, the team has Hoang Thi Kieu Trinh as a familiar player in this position.
However, in training, the main striker Tran Thi Thanh Thuy was tested in the opposite position because she had played this position before.
Coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet said: "The team had to change the main squad and the main striker position on the field. Fortunately, we have Hoang Thi Kieu Trinh who has played for a long time with the team.
Tran Thi Thanh Thuy used to play as an opposite setter, we depended on the situation of each match and the developments on the field to form an official squad.
The coaching staff of the Vietnam Women's Volleyball Team said that they have carefully reviewed the video of the Polish team. This is an opportunity for the players to play to the best of their abilities. Hopefully, the Vietnamese players will confidently compete to have good pieces," Mr. Kiet added.
On August 22, the Vietnam Women's Volleyball Team will practice for the second session in Thailand.
