The Portuguese superstar has approved his lawyer's offer as both agreed a plan to pay a fine of £12.9 million (over VND 360 billion) after a recent tax evasion suspect.
Information about the 32-year-old star agreeing to return the tax evasion amount has been posted by Spanish state broadcaster TVE. According to TVE, Ronaldo was forced to do so before the trial on July 31 to avoid heavier sentences that he may not have expected.
According to Spanish law, if tax evasion is committed under 2 years in prison, tax evasioners can return the amount of money they have defrauded and enjoy a suspended sentence.
However, if Ronaldo had truly "esque" up to 12.9 million pounds from 2011-2014, the Bo superstar would have known how big a penalty he was facing. Last year, Messi only evade taxes for 7.5 million pounds but was sentenced to 21 months in prison. Currently, if the figure of 12.9 million pounds is real, Ronaldo will certainly be sentenced to more than 24 months in prison (2 years), and thereby, the scene where he is behind the iron bar could happen.
But in the context of chaos, Ronaldo still has another way out. The Bo star could have paid 12.9 million pounds before going to court. After that, CR7 can still " cool" the case with the judge on July 31 to claim his innocence. However, if CR7 paid the penalty at this time, his image would deteriorate a lot in the eyes of fans because that action was no different from a confession.
