The Japanese women's volleyball team defeated the Netherlands with a score of 3-2 (20-25, 25-20, 22-25, 25-22, 15-12) to qualify for the semi-finals.
After 15 years, this team has just repeated the above result. The last time Japan reached the semi-finals of the World Championship before this year was in 2010. The Japanese women's volleyball team is the only representative of Asian women's volleyball in the top 4 teams of this year's World Championship.
Japan's semi-final opponent is the winner of the match between the US and Turkey teams (played late on September 4).
In other matches, Italy beat Poland 3-0 (September 3) and Brazil beat France 3-0 (September 4) to qualify for the semi-finals. Italy and Brazil will meet in the semi-final on the evening of September 6. In 2018, Italy won the World Championship runner-up position while Brazil was the runner-up in 2022.
The 2025 World Volleyball Championship will be held in Thailand until September 7. After the quarter-finals, the tournament has determined the rankings of the teams from 6th to 32nd place respectively: Netherlands, Poland, France, China, Serbia, Belgium, Germany, Thailand, Dominican Republic, Canada, Slovenia, Ukraine, Spain, Sweden, Kenya, Greece, Argentina, Cuba, Mexico, Czech Republic, Colombia, Bulgaria, Puerto Rico, Egypt, Slovakia, Vietnam and Cameroon. This year's champion will receive a reward of $1 million.
