Impressive performance
As the host team and the defending champion, the Vietnam Women's Volleyball Team will participate in the AVC Nations Cup 2025 with many advantages but also with invisible pressures. However, with careful preparation in both expertise and physical strength, coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet and his team can satisfy fans with their impressive performances.
Against teams such as India, Australia, Hong Kong (China) or Taiwan (China) - the strongest opponents in the group, the Vietnam women's volleyball team did not have much difficulty in bringing absolute victories. Notably, in the match against India, Vi Nhu Quynh and her teammates only needed less than 1 hour to defeat the representative from South Asia.
With consecutive victories, the Vietnamese women's team has also advanced significantly on the world volleyball rankings.
According to records, from 32nd place (before the tournament), Mr. Nguyen Tuan Kiet's team has increased 3 ranks to 29th place - the best achievement in the history of Vietnamese volleyball up to this point. If they continue to reach the final and successfully defend their championship, the team's ranking will continue to increase.
In addition to the results, the Vietnam Women's Volleyball Team also left a mark on their expertise. Instead of using a squad throughout the matches, coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet gave the players opportunities one by one. Currently, all 14 players of the team have been on the field and demonstrated their abilities.
In addition to the outstanding performances of pillars Thanh Thuy, Bich Tuyen or Khanh Dang... some other factors such as Nguyen Thi Uyen, Nguyen Thi Phuong, Vi Thi Nhu Quynh, Hoang Thi Kieu Trinh... all have "performance" and have completed their roles well. This is also what the coaching staff is aiming for to find new frameworks for the Vietnam Women's Volleyball Team to aim for different arenas, instead of depending on a squad that already contains many risks.
The goal is to defend the championship
In the semi-finals, the Vietnam Women's Volleyball Team will face Kazakhstan. With the advantage of playing at home and maintaining stable performance, Thanh Thuy and her teammates must take advantage of their opportunities. Before the AVC Nations Cup 2025 took place, Kazakhstan was considered the most important opponent of the Vietnamese team. However, they unexpectedly lost to the Philippines in the final match of the group stage, even though the Southeast Asian representative was not too strong. The absence of mainstay Sana Anarkulova due to injury has caused Kazakhstan many difficulties. This is considered an advantage for the home team.
If they win against Kazakhstan and reach the final, the opportunity for coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet to defend the title is very large, because the Philippines and Taiwan (China) are not the "hard opponents" of the Vietnam women's team.
Previously, in the group stage, Vietnam easily defeated Taiwan (China) with a score of 3-0.As for the Philippines, in the SEA V.League nearly a year ago, Vietnam won both the first and second leg despite the opponent causing some difficulties. With the defending champion's courage, this is not a big deal for coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet and his students.
After the matches, the Vietnam women's volleyball team competed with different teams. But basically the tactics and playing style are still the same, that is a good thing and the coaching staff is very satisfied with that. The way the athletes operate meets the requirements of the coaching staff. In this tournament, we are missing Tu Linh - the piece that has competed with the team since 2023, 2024. From recent matches, Nguyen Phuong and Nhu Quynh have installed and shown a very quick integration. But these are not tense matches so it cannot be accurately verified. Anyway, that is still a good signal for the athletes and the Vietnamese women's volleyball team," said Mr. Kiet.
The AVC Nations Cup semi-finals will take place on the afternoon of June 13.
