According to Lao Dong's investigation, the Vietnamese badminton team will participate in ASIAD 20 in September in Japan.
However, the coaching staff of the Badminton Team will work professionally thoroughly to select the best athlete to compete.
Preliminarily, the Vietnamese badminton team has listed 7 players who will register to participate in ASIAD 20. However, the final official list has not been announced.
Currently, the top 2 Vietnamese tennis players are Nguyen Thuy Linh and Nguyen Hai Dang. Thuy Linh is currently ranked 25th in the world while Hai Dang is ranked 72nd in the world.
With their current form, Thuy Linh and Hai Dang are named in the preliminary list preparing for ASIAD 20.
At ASIAD 19, the two athletes participated in the competition but did not have a medal achievement.
Vietnamese badminton has never won a medal in previous ASIAD competitions.
With the current athlete force, the Vietnamese badminton team aims for the opportunity to achieve the best results if they participate in ASIAD 20.
In April this year, Nguyen Thuy Linh and Nguyen Hai Dang participated in the 2026 Asian Championship held in China.
This is a tournament that attracts top Asian faces and has the participation of many players who will participate in ASIAD 20.
In August, Nguyen Thuy Linh and Nguyen Hai Dang will go to India to compete in the 2026 World Championships. This is considered the last international tournament for the Vietnamese badminton team to prepare for ASIAD 20.
The ASIAD 20 badminton event will be held from September 20 to September 29.
