Tennis player Nguyen Thuy Linh stopped at the 2026 Indian Open Badminton Tournament due to facing a strong opponent in the 2nd round.

Nguyen Thuy Linh competed against world No. 2 player Wang Zhi Yi (China) in the women's singles round 2 of the 2026 Indian Open badminton tournament on the afternoon of January 15.

Against a qualified opponent, Nguyen Thuy Linh tried to defend and find opportunities to score points against Wang Zhi Yi. However, the Chinese tennis player maintained her dominance.

In the first set, Thuy Linh quickly let her opponent pass with a score of 21-12. In the second set, Wang Zhi Yi continued to play solidly and won 21-17.

At the end of the match, Nguyen Thuy Linh lost 0-2 to her opponent. The defeat caused the Vietnamese badminton player to leave this tournament.

The 2026 Indian Open badminton tournament belongs to the BWF World Tour Super 750 level of the world, so a large number of players in the top group in the world participate.

Nguyen Thuy Linh will continue to compete in the Indonesia Open Badminton Tournament 2026 from January 20 to 25. Tournaments in India and Indonesia are Nguyen Thuy Linh's first international programs this year.

Her goal is to improve her position on the BWF rankings, so the tennis player will focus on winning the best results.

Currently, Thuy Linh is holding the 22nd position in the world women's singles. She competed in SEA Games 33 in Thailand but was unsuccessful.
