This afternoon (October 28), the Vietnamese women's team had their final training session at Chongqing Wenli University Stadium, before entering the match with host China at the Yongchuan Chongqing 2024 international friendly tournament.
Evaluating the training and competition process here, coach Mai Duc Chung said he was very satisfied with the conditions here, which helped the Vietnamese women's team maintain a high training intensity, and the players quickly caught up with the match.
This afternoon's training session took place at 3:30 p.m. (local time), when the temperature in Yongchuan reached its highest level of the day. However, the temperature of around 25 degrees Celsius was still suitable for the players to complete the high-intensity exercises set by the coaching staff.
“It has been 8 days since we arrived in China. The weather here is cool, the food, rest, and training conditions are good. Therefore, we continue to maintain a high training intensity so that the players can quickly get into the game. After the match on October 23, although I have a few days off, I still continue to train the team, prepare exercises and tactics for the match with the host China,” said coach Mai Duc Chung.
Sharing more about the team's preparation, the head coach of the Vietnamese women's team said: "The team's spirit is very comfortable. We also consider this an international friendly tournament, an opportunity for young athletes who rarely compete on the national team to compete and learn with their seniors. For this tournament, we aim to explore the strength of teams like Uzbekistan, because these are direct competitors with the Vietnamese women's team in the Asian region."
“For tomorrow’s match, the Chinese women’s team is rated higher than us because their achievements in the region and the world are both good. We need to learn and accumulate the best experience for next year. This tournament is a stepping stone for the Vietnamese women’s team. In fact, this year, we do not have many international tournaments.
Recently, Hanoi club had an international tournament with clubs from China and the Philippines, along with Thai Nguyen T&T. Ho Chi Minh City also competed in the Asian Women's Club Championship. The remaining teams have not yet competed internationally. Meanwhile, Vietnamese women's football is currently in need of many international matches to compete and learn. Therefore, this international friendly tournament is very useful. The purpose is to train and let the players get used to the high intensity of training and competition to prepare for the important tasks of next year," coach Mai Duc Chung added.
The match between the Vietnamese women's team and the Chinese women's team will take place at 6:35 p.m. tomorrow (October 29) Vietnam time at the Yongchuan Sports Center, Chongqing.
