The US Surge Warning Center warns that waves 3m above normal may occur along the coastal areas of Ecuador and Russia.
Higher-than-normal high waves may also occur along other coastal areas of South America, Pacific islands and Asia.
Forecasters warn that it is too early to talk about the extent of the damage caused by the Tsunami, or how many countries could be affected, as countries along the Pacific are preparing for the potential impact of the Tsunami caused by a strong earthquake that triggered on the morning of July 30 off the coast of Russia. However, the first affected areas are recording less severe waves than initially forecast.
The US God of Warning Center notes that waves 1 to 3 m high could occur along some of the coasts of Chile, Costa Rica, Polynesia in France, Guam, Hawaii (USA) and other islands and island groups in the Pacific.
In other places, waves up to 1m high may appear in Australia, Colombia, Mexico, New Zealand, Tonga and Taiwan (China).
Waves under 0.3m high may appear on the coasts of Brunei, China, North Korea, Malaysia, South Korea and Vietnam.
The American Surgeon Warning Center describes these potential wave conditions as dangerous.
The 8.7 term richter earthquake occurred off the Russian Far East coast on the morning of July 30.
Initially, the intensity of the earthquake was reported at 8.0 degrees richter and was later adjusted to 8.7 degrees richter.
The US Geological Survey said the earthquake occurred 136km east of Petropavlovsk- Kamchatsky, Russia's Far East region.
