At the opening day of the 2025 Asian Championship held in India, Vietnamese swimmers won 3 medals. The Vietnamese swimming pool players have the distinction of winning 2 silver medals and 1 bronze medal.
In the finals of distances, athlete Vo Thi My Tien won the silver medal in the women's 200m freestyle event with a time of 2 minutes 01 second 95. The female player tried her best to compete and although she had not won a gold medal, the Asian runner-up position was an encouraging achievement for My Tien. Immediately after that, she participated in the women's 100m butterfly final but finished 4th (1 minute 01 second 57).
The second silver medal on the competition day of the Vietnam Swimming Team went to athlete Nguyen Kha Nhi. She finished second in the final of the women's 1,500m freestyle event with a time of 17 minutes 23 seconds 60. This is the first time Kha Nhi has participated in the Asian Championship.
The results were even more encouraging when player Pham Thanh Bao won the bronze medal in the men's 200m frog distance, this player finished 3rd with a time of 2 minutes 12 seconds 50.
Thanh Bao participated in the Asian Championship for the first time but soon won a medal. This is the first medal for Vietnamese men's swimming in their participation in the Asian Championship.
Meanwhile, swimmer Nguyen Huy Hoang did not win a medal due to 8th place in the men's 200m freestyle (1 minute 50 seconds 26). In this event, young player Tran Van Nguyen Quoc ranked 6th with a result of 1 minute 49 seconds 94.
