Vietnamese athletics players and new motivation

The faces of the Vietnamese athletics team return to the training ground after the 2026 Asian Beach Games. They are preparing for the task of participating in the 2026 Asian Championships (for the dance event group) in May.

Important professional sight

Five athletes of the Vietnam Athletics Team (Pham Van Nghia, Bui Thi Kim Anh, Duong Thi Thao, Ha Thi Thuy Hang, Vu Thi Ngoc Ha) who just participated in the 2026 Asian Beach Games recently returned to the training ground at the National High-Level Athlete Training Center to continue training. It is expected that from May 18 to May 19, they will participate in the 2026 Asian Championships (for the jump event group) taking place in China.

At the 2026 Asian Beach Games, the Vietnamese athletics team competed in the men's, women's, and women's high jump events. Among them, athlete Ha Thi Thuy Hang won a gold medal in women's long jump (achievement 6m16) and Pham Van Nghia won a gold medal in men's long jump (7m44).

Currently, the athletes in the professional events of the dance group will have the opportunity to participate in the 2026 Asian Athletics Championships in dance events. This is the first time Asia has hosted this tournament.

That is a very valuable opportunity for Vietnamese athletes to check performance parameters and grasp opponents," the representative of the jump event team of the Vietnamese Athletics Team shared. The continuous competition task is a requirement for all professional jump athletes who are actively training at this time.

Vietnamese athletics has built a target program to standard achievements to ASIAD 20 and ASIAD 21, the Vietnamese athletics team expects long jump and high jump athletes to be able to win medals here. We once won a Gold Medal in women's long jump at ASIAD 18 in 2018. It can be seen that the Vietnamese athletics team has enough opportunities to conquer the professional content of the dance group if the athlete reaches her true form.

At the 2026 Asian Beach Games, Ha Thi Thuy Hang accumulated valuable experience because she competed against many athletes from different countries, thereby making adjustments for herself and winning the Gold Medal. Similarly, Pham Van Nghia competed at the beach and confidently won the Gold Medal. However, Ha Thi Thuy Hang's 6m16 and Pham Van Nghia's 7m44 were not the best. They still need to improve more.

At the 2025 Asian Athletics Championships, women's long jump medalists have medals when they achieve results in the range of 6m30 to 6m40. At ASIAD 20, women's long jump medalists have medal achievements when they achieve results from about 6m50 to 6m73.

Athlete Ha Thi Thuy Hang and some faces of women's long jump are still being actively prepared. Of course, competing on sand and competing at the stadium are 2 different environments.

In terms of expertise, each indicator is still an important result to help the coaching staff adjust things that need to be adjusted for athletes" - a representative of the coaching staff of the Vietnam Athletics Team added.

Motivation from the new regime

Pham Van Nghia, Ha Thi Thuy Hang are the first people of the Vietnamese Athletics Team to enjoy the new reward regime according to Decree 349/2025/ND-CP stipulating regimes and policies for members of the sports team participating in concentrated training and competition that has been implemented since this year.

They won medals at international tournaments, which are regulated for commendation in Decree 349/2025/ND-CP. It is expected that each Gold Medal will receive a bonus of 30 million VND due to regulations for the results of competitions of other Asian-scale Sports Games.

Sharing when returning to Vietnam after the competition journey of the 2026 Asian Beach Games, athlete Ha Thi Thuy Hang once expressed right at Noi Bai airport (Hanoi): "I am very happy to have won a Gold Medal at this Games. We are also happy to know that we will be rewarded according to the new regime. The new policies and regimes help us to be very confident in training and ready to compete with the highest determination". If they win a medal at the 2026 Asian Championships (for the dance event group), Thuy Hang or Van Nghia will have more opportunities to receive valuable bonuses in the future.
