Athletics athlete Pham Van Nghia is the person who won the 2nd gold medal for the Vietnamese Sports Delegation at the 2026 Asian Beach Games currently competing in China.
Also on the competition day, Pham Van Nghia was 1 of 13 athletes participating in the men's long jump event of beach athletics.
Through 6 jumps, Pham Van Nghia achieved the best result of 7m44. The achievement helped Pham Van Nghia surpass to hold the No. 1 position to receive the gold medal.
In the men's long jump event, the runner-up belonged to athlete Tao Yege (China, record: 7m41) and the third place was Miranda Jayathra Sampath (Sri Lanka, 7m37).
This is the first time Pham Van Nghia has participated in the Asian Beach Games. Pham Van Nghia's result is also the 2nd gold medal of the Vietnam Athletics Team in particular at this Games.
The target set by the Vietnamese athletics team is to strive to win 1 gold medal.
On the previous competition day, athlete Ha Thi Thuy Hang won a gold medal in women's long jump. With the above results, the Vietnam Athletics Federation rewarded each medal-winning athlete 10 million VND.
On the same morning of competition April 25, the Vietnamese women's traditional boat team won another team medal in the 12m large boat event.
Vietnamese rowers achieved a result of 54 seconds 839. The champion and winning gold medal is the Chinese team (51 seconds 964) and the silver medal is the Thai team (54 seconds 748).
The 2026 Asian Beach Games will continue to compete until the end of April 30.
