The Vietnamese athletics team will compete at the 2026 Taiwan (China) Open International Athletics Championships.

This year, the coaching staff registered 11 players to participate in the tournament. In the competition lineup, fans will pay attention to 2 top players, Nguyen Thi Oanh and Huynh Thi My Tien.

It is expected that Nguyen Thi Oanh will participate in her forte events of 3,000m steeplechase and 5,000m in Taiwan (China), while My Tien will focus on the women's 100m hurdles event.

The last time Nguyen Thi Oanh competed internationally in 2026 was the 2026 Asian Indoor Athletics Championships in China in February this year. However, she did not win a medal.

Meanwhile, Huynh Thi My Tien has not played internationally since the 33rd SEA Games in Thailand. This year's tournament in Taiwan (China) is the first international program for her to show her form.

Representatives of the coaching staff of the Vietnamese athletics team said that in addition to the above 2 players, we also have some key faces who will compete in Taiwan (China) such as Nguyen Trung Cuong, Luong Duc Phuoc, Ngan Ngoc Nghia, Bui Thi Ngan, Tran Thi Loan...

Among them, Nguyen Trung Cuong, Bui Thi Ngan and Tran Thi Loan won gold medals at SEA Games 33 in Thailand last year.

Player Tran Thi Loan just participated in the 2026 Asian Championship (for the jump event) but was unsuccessful. She will be tested again in Taiwan (China). The whole team will participate in the tournament from June 4 to June 8.
