Nguyen Thi Oanh was registered by Bac Ninh athletics team to compete in the professional women's 5km event at the 2026 National Marathon Championship of Tien Phong Newspaper.
The female athlete has won 9 consecutive championships in this event in previous participations.
Nguyen Thi Oanh's goal is to conquer the track in Nha Trang (Khanh Hoa) in the morning of competition on March 29, to win the 10th consecutive professional women's 5km championship.
Nguyen Thi Oanh said she went to Nha Trang (Khanh Hoa) to get used to the running track and climate from March 19.
The climate here is suitable for me. The weather in the morning is pleasant. The time I practice with everyone is suitable for me. At this year's tournament in Nha Trang (Khanh Hoa), with early start distances, not affected by sunny weather, athletes will not encounter obstacles.
However, the route will pass through some bridge sections with slopes, so everyone will get used to it in the past time. On the coastal road, we have practiced in the past time to get used to it in the best way.
Hopefully, when officially competing, security assurance will be best implemented by the Organizing Committee," Nguyen Thi Oanh expressed.
She also affirmed that she will compete with all her professional ability to achieve the best results, protecting the results she has had since last season.
The female athlete believes that the National Marathon Championship of Tien Phong Newspaper is being organized more and more professionally, creating a playground for professional and amateur athletes, so the fighting spirit is always the most positive every time it takes place.
Last year, Nguyen Thi Oanh won the 5km women's professional distance at the tournament with a result of 16 minutes and 20 seconds.
This year, the professional women's 5km event is expected to have 28 athletes from units across the country participating.
