The 2026 World Junior Beach Ball Championships closed in Azerbaijan late at night on August 27 in Vietnam.
Closing the competition program, the Vietnamese youth wrestling team won 1 gold medal in the women's 45kg weight class of athlete Lo Thi Hong.
This year, we sent 3 players to compete including Lo Thi Hong (45kg women), Pham Van Duong (60kg men) and Ly Quy Bao Ha (90kg men).
The tournament only organizes 4 men's weight classes (60kg, 70kg, 80kg, 90kg), 4 women's weight classes (45kg, 55kg, 65kg, 75kg, 60kg) in accordance with World Wrestling Federation standards.
The two Vietnamese male players did not perform successfully and stopped after the group stage in their weight classes.
Only Lo Thi Hong won from the outer round to the final.
In the preliminary round, Lo Thi Hong achieved 3 victories. The result helped her enter the semi-finals to compete against Mira Higashi (Japan).
Against an opponent who is rated higher in expertise, Lo Thi Hong still excellently won 2-0 to enter the final.
In the final match, she defeated wrestler Meriem S.Grib (Algeria) 3-0.
Thus, this year, Lo Thi Hong has 2 important gold medals.
In June, she won a gold medal at the 2026 Asian Junior Beach Ball Shooting Championships (held in Da Nang city).
Now, Lo Thi Hong continues to win a gold medal at the 2026 World Junior Beach Ball Shooting Championships.
