On the evening of May 4 local time, the Vietnam U17 team entered their third training session in Jeddah (Saudi Arabia).
This is an important stage when coach Cristiano Roland and his team review the entire force and expected playing style. To help players adapt to the official match time (20:00 local time) as well as the competition conditions under the lights, the coaching staff has adjusted the training time later than previous sessions.
During the training session, U17 Vietnam focused on completing tactical plans, from organizing attacks and defenses to handling set-piece situations. Coach Cristiano Roland closely followed each content, directly directing to ensure that the players grasped professional requirements.
The list of U17 Vietnam participating in the tournament includes two players who participated in the 2025 AFC U17 Championship finals, Nguyen Van Duong and Chu Ngoc Nguyen Luc. Most of the remaining squad is playing in a continental arena for the first time, but the whole team still shows concentration, confidence and high determination.
Sharing before the training session, striker Nguyen Van Duong assessed that the tournament has a very high level of competition. He said: "The teams are all strong, play disciplined and the pace of the match is fast, so the whole team must concentrate as much as possible throughout the match.
This striker also emphasized that the experience from the previous participation helped him become more confident, and at the same time actively shared with his teammates about psychological preparation. "The whole team needs to maintain confidence but must maintain high concentration, because even a small mistake can affect the result," Van Duong said.
Heading towards the match against U17 Yemen, U17 Vietnam is focusing on improving coordination and finishing ability. "Every opponent in this tournament is of high quality, so we highly appreciate U17 Yemen and will try our best to get the best result in the opening match," Van Duong affirmed.
According to the schedule, the match between U17 Vietnam and U17 Yemen takes place at 8:00 PM on May 6 local time (0:00 AM on May 7 Vietnam time). Prior to that, the coaching staff will attend a technical meeting and complete professional content in the final training session, aiming for a favorable start to the tournament.
